Huntsville Hospital Foundation with $25,000 Donation

HUNTSVILLE, ON: The Stockfish Family Foundation generously made a $25,000 donation to Huntsville Hospital Foundation to support Muskoka's first MRI.

George Stockfish was a shareholder and partner in Bickley Ford (Huntsville) and was also a founding member of the Stockfish Automotive Group based out of North Bay. His long-time friend Ken Bickley was the original owner of Bickley Ford, and a resident of Huntsville. George and Ken, both long-time Ford dealers, spent a lot of time in Huntsville with their wives Dianne and Lynne. George was passionate about giving back to the community, was incredibly generous, and very humble.

After George's passing in January of 2023, it was his wish to support the Huntsville Hospital in some fashion. He leaves behind a legacy that is one of remarkable generosity, leadership, and positive influence.

Bickley Ford has been a loyal supporter of Huntsville Hospital Foundation since 1998. Over the years, the dealership has donated over $53,000 and recently renewed their 5-year Business Cares commitment.

"We're grateful for the meaningful gift from The Stockfish Family Foundation in honour of George," says Meaghan Byrnes, Director of Philanthropy, Huntsville Hospital Foundation. "Their thoughtful donation will help bring MRI services to Muskoka for the very first time and for that our community and hospital will forever be grateful," adds Meaghan.

Muskoka's first MRI will save patients over save over 7,000 hours behind the wheel and 700,000 kilometres of travel to hospitals outside our region for an MRI. Offering MRI services locally means timely diagnosis and treatment, reduced local wait times for outpatient MRI, and avoids out-of-region travel. Having MRI accessible as a diagnostic tool for our healthcare team helps recruit physicians and Medical Radiation Technologists for the future.
